Why most of the cars in India are front wheel drive (FWD)?

Front wheel drive (FWD) cars are cheaper to produce and have less complexity in design so the manufacturing cost is also less. Indian automotive market is mostly covered by budget cars nowadays. In (FWD) car, the engine, the transmission, the suspension and every other thing is crammed under the bonnet. The power transmission line from engine to the wheels is just below the engine.
